CHINESE CUSTOMS DUES.

SENATE RATIFIES TREATY. A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON. May 26.
The Senate has ratified the treaty with China, confirming the application of a 5 per cent, ad valorem duty on the United States goods imported into China, to replace the present specific rates, averaging about 3 per cent. China initiated the negotiations on the ground that the present tariff did not provide sufficient revenue.
