ALL ACCOUNTS IN CREDIT.
FINANCES OF NORTHCOTE.
The retiring Mayor of Northcote, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, who will instal his successor, Mr. W. E. Richardson, on Thursday evening, stated on Saturday that every account was in credit.
The debit in the general account a year ago was £600, but there was now a credit of £588 available for the current year. Besides, there was set apart £322 for completion of the wharf approach. The larger surpluses, including outstanding amounts, were : Sanitation, £108 ; water works, £708; and interest accounts £115 The number of new buildings approaching completion brought the annual value of the borough to over £20,000, on which the rating for the ensuing year would be based, against £18.000 12 months ago. Only £4 3s had been paid for bank overdraft interest during the past year.
