ACTIVITIES AT ONEHIJNGA.. , /The' annual':' meeting of the Onehunga Ladies' benevolent Society was'held, oil Friday evening:, the Mayor, Mr. J. Park, presiding. The annual report showed that the society had befriended maiiy poor people, , A. large quantity of clothing had been distributed, including much from the collection made last yea.y by the copraes- , cial travellers. The thanks of the society were due to Mrs. Hawkins and the children of thejTe Papapa public school for , the gift of 12Q articles; of children's clothing made by: them, and to many others ' for assistance and donations. The receipts for the year, including a credit balance of £42, amounted to £257, there being now a credit balance of £34.; Mrs. Logan was re-elected president, Mrs. Parker hon. , secretary, and Mrs. Barden treasurer. , The following were elected:—Yice-presi, , dents, Mesdames Park, Scott, and Smythe; committee, Mesdarnea Rowe, Kennedy, Neville, Hutchinson , Davies, Houldsworth, Buchanan, Whyte, Messrs. J. Park, J.. Eowe, J. "Whyte, H. A. Yockney, D, G- Cole, H. J. Davies, J. , Robins, E. J. Higgins, J. Eobb, T. R. Gillman, S. F. Logan, A. Sinusons;' auditor, Mr, E. J. Gatland, The Mayor agreed to ask the Onehunga Orphans' Club to give a ■concert in aid of the sot , ciety's funds.
