UNLAWFUL USE OF CARS.
CAMBRIDGE PROSECUTIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. In the Cambridge Magistrate's Court yesterday, beiore Mr. H. A. Young, S.M., J. McKearney and J. Meredith were charged that on March 2', 1921, they unlawfully and without colour of right converted to their use a motor-car (at Cambridge, the property of Innes and Co. They were also similarly charged that they took cars of other owners at various dates. McKearney was further charged with being drunk while in charge of a car and driving in a manner dangerous to the public at Hautapu, on March 2. Mr. Lewis said the accused had " got on the spree," and taken the cars. They had already been put to considerable expense in paying for damage to the cars. The magistrate convicted the accused and ordered them to come up for sentence when called on, conditional on good behaviour, and that they refrain from drinking intoxicating liquor. McKearney was fined.£l7 10s and Meredith £14 14s. " •
