FINANCE FOR DRAINAGE.
£98,000 AT 4£ PER,. CENT. [BT TELEGEAPH.—OWN CORHESFOKn>ENTr.3 j. THAMES, Saturday. The -«Thames Borough Council at a special meeting yesterday received a communication from the State Advances' Office to the effect that the application made by the borough for a loan of £98,000 for drainage had been provisionally approved by the board, the loan to be for 36i years, beayinsr interest a-t 4£ per cent, per annum. The •council'' was asked when the first s annual"- instalment of £10,000 would be required. The Mayor expressed satisfaction at the sympathetic treatment of the application, which showed that the Government was exercising a wise discretion with regard to loansIt had recognised the urgent need or the proposed work in the interests of public health, and he felt that the district was indebted to the Health Department for its assistance to secure the loan at the present time. •'■ ""- £■
