NEW ZEALAND CADETSHIPS. CONDITIONS PRESCRIBED. Provision has been made by the Air Ministry, London, whereby the GovernorGeneral is empowered to recommend each half-year two candidates for cadetships for the Royal Air Forces (Cadet) College. Nominations, submitted by the headmaster of the candidate's school, should' be forwarded to General Headquarters. New Zealand Military Forces,. Wellington. The opening coarse commences on September 14, 1921, and nominations for that -entry should be submitted by Saturday, June 1L To be eligible for nomination a candidate must; —(a) Be between the age of 17j and 19 years; (b) be a member of a family established and resident in New Zealand; (c) be recommended by the headmaster of his school as suitable in all respects for admission to the Eoyal Air Force 'Cadet) College, with a view to his obtaining eventually a commission in the Royal Air Force; (d) have attended continuously for at least three years at a secondary school; (e) be an "efficient" member of the School Cadet Corps. A candidate, recommended for nomination must be prepared. to present himself -for interview at th 6' General Headquarters, New •Zealand'- Military Forces, on a date notified, by. the Air Board. He must also be prepared to present himpeif at a medical board on a date notified by the Air Board. Selected candidates nominated for cadetships at the Royal Air Force (Cadet) College will be required to report themselves to the commandant of the college on the opening day of 'he term immediately succeeding the date of their nomination. Candidates will have no claim on public funds for the payment of their travelling expenses. The normal length of the course of instruction will be two years. Examinations will be held periodically, and cadets will Ibe awarded marks for their work during the term. The aggregate marks will determine the cadet's place in order of merit when passing out for appointment to a commission.

The following contributions will be__payable:—Educational fees, £75 per annum: uniform and books, £35 (prior to first joining), and £30 at commencement cf second year. In view of the high cost of clothing, materials, etc., it is not con-, sidered that these latter advance payments will cover all the charges payable in respect of uniform, etc. Accounts -for any further sums due will be rendered at the end of the course and will be payable by the parent or guardian,of the cadet. .' ,'-;1 ' Pay will be credited to a cadet at the college at the rate of ss' per day. which will be increased to 10s per ,day when he enters his last year's course." Against this will be charged the cost of messing, washingy recreation, library, and other incidental charges.. Any surplus will be issued periodically to the cadet in cash. A daily allowance of Is per cadet' will be made towards the cost of messing, washing, ..etc. This allowance is payable only during college terms. No free issue of rations is made to 'cadets. .
