CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE.
The Auckland district Women's Christian Temperance Union met in the head quarters on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. J. Cook presided. Adjutant Gordon, one of the vice-presidents of the union, was congratulated on her appointment as probation officer for women and children under the Probation Act, 1920. She is the first woman in New Zealand to receive such an appointment. Mesdames Murray and Rosser were appointed delegates to the Parliament of Temperance Workers on June 3. Mrs. Neale, late'of Feilding, gave an address on " Medical Ter J3rance." She touched on the work of the cradle roll and Loyal Temperanco Legion, and emphasised the valuo of having scientific temperance instruction in the schools.
