WAIKATO HOSPITAL BOARD.

[by telecbaph.—own CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Thursday. The Waikato Hospital met today. It was decided to keep a box of firstaid appliances in the ambulance. The "Health Department wrote asking the board to co-operate in the scheme for the medical inspection of children, and suggesting that a special day at the hospital should be set aside for children, and that children, after minor operations, should be allowed to remain at the hospital for not less" than two days, to give them a. chance of recovering before discharge. It was decided to reply that the suggestions made were already in operation at the Waikato Hospital. The Health Department pointed out that the board was not providing adequate medical services in the Kawhia, Raglan, and Taupo districts. At present there is a doctor and hospital at Kawhia, which is supported by contributions from the local bodies interested, and by subsidy from the board. It was pointed out that under the new Act the local body is debarred from contributing in this manner and that the board has to supply the entire medical service. Discussion was deferred until the next meeting. Sister Janet- A. Moore, of Duaiedin, was appointed matron of the hospital, in place of Miss E. Kothwell, resigned.
