THE BAYFIELD SCHOOL.
The means of raising funds for the improvement of Courtney's property, Ponsonby, lately cicquired by the Education Department as an extension to the Bayfield public school, was discussed at a meeting of parents and others last evening. There was a good attendance. The headmas! or, Mr. D. who presided, stated that it was proposed to lav out the new ground in football, tennis, and basketball ureas, and that about £500 would be needed. If £250 was raised in the district the department would give a subsidy of £ for £. lie suggested that a flower queen carnival be held for the purpose of raising funds. The meetin" unanimously decided that a carnival should be held, and those present formed I themselves into a committee, of which ! Mr. Mclnnes was elected chairman, and j Messrs. R. Ckghorn and W. T. Brown I joint secretaries and treasurers.
