AUCKLAND ORPHANS' CLUB.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Auckland Orphans' Club was held on Saturday evening. The president, Mr. W. A. Reddoe, presided. The annual report and balance-sheet, which, were adopted, showed the club to be in a satisfactory financial position with a membership of 454. Only 52 new members could be admitted last season owing to the limited accommodation in the club room. It was anticipated that next year the club would occupy much more commodious premises, which, would allow further augmentation of its numbers. New clubs were formed a>t Hamilton and Onehunga during the season. It was decided to open the present season on May 7. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Lord Jellicoe ; president, Mr. W. A. Beddoe ; vice-presidents, Hons. A. M. Myers and G. Fowlds, Professors Maxwell Walker and Dettman. Messrs. J. Drummond, T. U. Wells, G. Elliot, and W. Wallace : committee, Messrs. E. Winthrop, J. Lovett, J. P. Howden, J. Robinson. D. Mclnnes, and W. Peggs; hon. secretary, Mr. J. D. Crawford ; hon. treasurer. Mr. W- T. Brown ; hon. auditors, Messrs. J. A. Gentles and H. B. Harper; '•onductor of orchestra, Mr. G. F. Cater ; hon. pianists, Messrs. G. Shorland, C. Towsey, and Hntton.
