THE ESCAPED PRISONER.
CHASE ACROSS COUNTRY.
TUSSLE IN AN ORCHAHD.
The search [or George Vincent Keys, the prisoner who escaped from a prison gang in the Mount Eden quarry at raidday on Saturday, was continued by a posse of polico and warders yesterday without success. The escaped man haa been seen attired in a pair of denim trousers, a dark, green coat, and a pair of boots, which answer to the description of articles stolen from the back yard of ft bakery at Mount Roskill. Two loaves were also taken. On Monday Keys was tracked along tho beach at' Green Bay for several miles, and at dusk one of the warders came upon him eating apples in an orchard. A scuffle ensued, and tho l prisoner broke away, and was lost to sieht in tho fathering darkness. The search parly hid in tho vicinity all night, and in the morning discovered that tha fugitive had gone in the direction of NewLynn South. All dav yesterday they followed him through difficult country. He was traced to Waikumete, and last evening waa reported (o be heading for Henderson. \ Keys is. about sft. 6}in. in height, with grey hair and eyes, and has a scar on tho right side of tho neck.
