AUCKLAND Y.W.C.A.
The board of directors of the Y.W'.C.A. at its last meeting received a letter from tho Under-Secretary far Immigration, Mr. H, 1). Thomson, asking that, in view of the closing of tho Women's Bureau of Labour, the Y.W.O.A. would temporarily undertake the placing in domestio service of girls arriving from overseas. The board unanimously declined to accept the responsibility, and expressed regret that bo satisfactory a method of placing these girls should be discontinued by the Government, Oil tho advice of tho Advisory Board, it \\as unanimously agveod to post pone the financial effort for tho erect.on of tho proposed hostel for girls. The directors are now conferring ",>ith the Advisory Board as to means of 'raising tho bare current expenses for tho ensuuig year.
