The Australians in tSie first innings made 314 runs (Liddicut, not out, 153, Asher 60). Manawatu'* second innings produced only 69 (PegdiSn 39, not out). MATCH AGAINST AUCKLAND. PLAY STARTS TO-MORROW, The Australian eleven, who are to commence a match against Auckland representatives at Eden Park tomorrow, will arrive here by the Main Trunk express this afternoon. Thfe visitors will be met at the railway station by members of the Auckland Cricket Association and will then proceed to the) Town Hall, where the Mayor will accord them a civic welcome at four o'clock. Final arrangements for the match- were made by the Auckland Cricket Association last evening, Professor H. S. Dettman presiding. It was decided that, subject to the approval of the visitors, play should start to-morrow at 12 noon and on Saturday at 11 a.m., the hour for starting^play on Monday to be arranged. The Entertainment Committee reported that offers to assist in entertaining the visitors had been received from various quarters, indicating that interest in the game in Auckland was widespread. The visitors will be taken by members of the Pacific dub for a motor drive to Mount Eden and Titirangi on Saturday morning, and the following day another motor run will be provided. The visiting cricketers arid the Auckland eleven have been invited by the J. C. Williamson management to attend the performance at His Majesty's Theatre to-morrow evening. The Masonic Institute and Club, the Junior Club, and the Pacific, Commercial Travelled, arid Auckland Chibs will extend their hospitality to the visitors in the shape of privileges, honorary membership, etc., bo far as their rules allow. A letter deceived by the Auckland Association from the Wellington Cricket Association stated that the attendance for the three days at the Australian match in Wellington was 16,500. The opinion was expressed that on the form shown by th* visitors in that game Auckland should have an excellent chance of defeating them. In view of the importance of the representative game there will be no grade matches played under the jurisdiction of the Cricket Association on Saturday. The Suburban Association has also decided to susnend its fixtures for that day. The following team has been selected to represent Wajkatd in the match against the Australians at Hamilton pext week :— Biamires, BaroetC. Gilmore, F. Johnson, R. Johnston {captain). H. Johnston. Lenihan. Loveridge. F. I.oughlin. Nicholson, F. Patterson, Shepherd, Snedden, Dufty, and Hooker.
