CHEAPER CABLE SERVICE.
WEEK-END SERVICE RESTORED. "Week-end" messages for the United Kingdom will be accepted by the Pacific Cable Board as from next Saturday. The tariff will be the same as formerly—Bd per word, with a minimum of 13s 6d. The week-end service will not at present be available to Canada or for messages from the United Kingdom to New Zealand. This service has been suspended since 1916, the outward service from July of that year, and the homeward from * November. Owing to the volume of ordinary traffic, it has been impossible previously to restore this popular means of communication.
