BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH.
The Birkenhead Borough Council last evening. There were present: The Ma-ior. Mr. J. P. McPhail, Messrs. E. G. Skeat?s, A. Hadfield. R. Webb. P. C. Backhouse, R. Taylor, A. E. Wood. H. Boardman J. R. McPhail.
The Mayor mentioned that the preliminary report on a joint electricity scheme for Birkenhead and Nortbcote, which had been prepared by A. G. Walker, would be presented to a conference of the two councils to be held a.i Birkenhead the following evening. Mr. P. Hayward wrote urging the restoration of the vehicle ferry-boat on Sundays, as at present vehicles had to travel an extra ten miles to Devonport to get home. It was resolved to request the Sevonport Perry Company to givo effect to the request, and to &ak the support of the Northcote Council.
It was resolved to request the Valuation Department to make interim valuations of new buildings or otler inrj>rovemenl-« effected since the genera] revision of tr-e valuation roll. The Mayor intimated that in response to overtures by the council the control of ti« public cemetery was being hinded over ta the Borough Council a* from Friday next.
