LOS ANGELES OUTRAGE.
KIDNAPPED WIFE RESTORED. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK. Feb. 1. The police have rescued Mrs. 0. S. Witherel, of Los Angeles, who was kidnapped four days ago. She was informed by some men who came to her house that her husband had met with an accident. Mrs. Witherel, who is a beautiful young matron of 23, left her 18-month-old baby at home and rushed off to the scene of the supposed accident. She was then kidnapped, a note being sent to her husband demanding a ransom of 50,000 dollars, and stating, " If the police are informed all is lost." When the police found Mrs. Witherel she was imprisoned in a deserted ranch in charge of two men who had a grudge againat her husband. Both the men have been arrested.
