EMPIRE SETTLEMENT.
COST OF EMIGRANTS' FARES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed'. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON. Feb. 1. The Colonial Office Conference on Empire settlement discussed yesterday the cost of ocean fares for emigrants, free passages for children, and the continuance of State-aided passages for civilians after the cessation of the concession to ex-service emigrants. It is expected that Mr. E. D. Millen's land settlement proposals will be remitted to the Imperial Conference.
