. -o. I d An innovation in the. way of entertainment wag afforded the Auckland public on Christ- !" mas Ere when the Jazz Cabaret opened its '" season in the Town Hall. An original scheme of decoration was carried out in it transforming the hall into an Arcadian bower, where multi-coloured lights shed a soft radiance from a tracery of feathery • greenery in which deep yellow roses were entwined. A canopy overhead was formed of trails of lycopodium and roses suspended from under the gallery to the electroliers, which were hung with brilliantly coloured : streamers of rafia. From various angles ol | tho gallery clusters of Chinese lanterns a i were suspended, rafia streamers again adding 3-' a striking note of colour. On the stage 6 I where the band was placed, an effective baeka ground was formed by the erection of a 7, high fence, through which there appeared '• ! trails of roses and greenery.
