SCIENCE OF THE WEATHER.
LONG FORECAST OF RAIN. A and N.Z. SYDNEY, Dec. 23. Giving evidence before the Agricultural Committee. Father Pigott, a-stronomical observer at Riverview College, explained that the time was coming when rain would bo forecasted a fortnight ahead in consequence of a recent discovery that the sun's radiation was hot constant, and that there was correspondence between its variation and the weather. He suggested that Australia should participate in the observations being taken in North and South America and Egypt, thus completing a parallelograjn. It is proposed to utilise Father Pigott's observatory and to obtain the services of an OA pert from Washington.
