The Government will apparently have some difficulty in filling the impending i vacancies on the Supreme Court Bench, ! because leading barristers cannot bo tempted by the present salaries. There is a possibility that a new Chief Justice will also have to be appointed, as Sir Robert Stout has recently not been '.n good health. It is understood that the position of Arbitration Court Judge may ' be filled bv tne elevation of someone from I the magistracy. The names of Messrs. I Uutten, magistrate at Auckland, and Mr. < • : Fraser, assistant public service ' commissioner, are suggested as possible 1 appointees, but the Cabinet lias not vet I considered the matter. j
