NEW CRICKET TROPHY.
I [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. ] The New Zealand Cricket Council has ! accepted from Mr. D. Eedpath, of Christ- ' church, a silver cup, to be awarded annu- ' ally to the player with the best batting j average in major, inter-provincia], and 1 foreign matches. The trophy will be i called the Redpath Cup. It is not to be i won outright, but accompanying it will be \ a miniature cup, which will be retain-ed '■ by the successful batsmen. Mr. Redpath ; is providing six of these miniature : trophies. _ When these are exhausted the < council will_ provide those for future vears One condition governing the awarding of the trophy is that the player to whom it is allotted must have played at least three innings, and have scored a total of at least 125 runs in the matches which count.
