Kennedy, manager of the Union Company, that h© had received intimation from the Cooks and Stewards' Union that instructions had been given to the men on the inter-island ferry boats to withdraw all notices to leave work, and to resume duty. The question of wages was left over until after the holidays. Passengers who arrived by the Maori this morning state that they experienced no inconvenience owing to lack of stewards. They had early morning tea and a light breakfast. Ihe vessel sailed as usual for Lytt-elton to-night. "V7AHINE SAILS AS USUAL. MEN WELCOME INSTRUCTIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. About 30 of the stewards on the ferry steamer Wahine handed in their 24 hours' notice this afternoon. Immediately afterwards the men received a telegram from their Wellington headquarters instructing them to withdraw their notices, and also instructing the Maori's stewards —who had remained behind on Wednesday night—to resume work when the vessel arrived at Lytt-elton to-morrow morning. The men seemed much relieved on receiving the instructions, and at once withdrew their notices. The Maori's men will resume in the morning. The W 7 ahine sailed for Wellington at 8.55 p.m.
