AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUB'S MEETING. TRAINING AT EPSOM. With the improTement in the weather, the training work at Alexandra. Park h*s been ' marked with much of a. vigorous character. Tho track is in splendid order, and. with fine weather, some fast performances are to be expected when it comes to real business. Lord Rose, with a galloping pacer, was tried out over a. couple of miles, driven, by S- Groat. The showing was q.uite satisfactory. Norah Creina, alone, went over a couple of miles with the straps on. The daughter of Rothschild pleased the onlookers by the vim she put into her task. Red Star, with the straps on, ran. over about a mile and a-half without being fully extended. His stable companion, Harold I Junior, «dropped out of the cup showing signs of soreness. Dorothy Dimple was never in better racing fettle, and can be depended to give her supporters a good run. The grey maro put a mile past attractively, ridden by W. J. Paull. 1 Kempsey, with the straps on, and paced , by a galloper, covered about twelve furlongs , in attractive style. The Australian-bred geld- ' ing is very fit ' Wild Lad, tho Gisborne-owned trotter, put 16 furlongs past in a fast and forceful style, and made many friends by his clean style of finishing up his task. Ena Bell, his stable companion, a Great Northern trotting candidate, ran out a mile in nice even style. Dorothy Dimple covered tho same ground attractively. Huia Girl, the maiden trotter, which ran unsuccessfully at the Otahuhu Trotting Club meeting (twice) was moving, over the track with plenty of vim and vigour. Canberra trotted two miles alone, handled by J. Simmonds. The same driver put his pacer, Treanac. through a. strong mile and a-quurter. The uncertain one put up a , fair showing. Gold Rod, who makes a* noise, ran two miles at top, Lady Somerset, galloping, as pacemaker. The Gold Bell gelding finished soundly. Audex, by Galindo—Miss Dexter, recently fell on the roads, but. except ior a few abrasions, did not injure herself materially. Kirikiriroa, rising twenty years old, does not seem to. feel the weignt of years laying heavy on him by the way he slipped r. couple of miles past. His stable companion, Rothclifi, is very well at the present time. Mutu, the trotter, is back in W. Orange and McNaughton's stable. Tue little chestnut has plenty of pace if ho left off thi bad habtt of leaving his feet. Dean Dillon arrived -yesterday at Epsom, and was seat for a mile and a-half "spin. The horse is brimful of condition. He was . nicely handled by A. Fleming, and gave a good display of clean, even pacing. Lady Burlington has not oeen so well for quite a long time. The mare recently rave two eiean displays of sound cacing in tho strops, never once faulting. Her stable companion, Whispering Dell, is also reeling off his work in fine s«yle. Mr Pettie's flue Nelson Bingen—Lady Zeppelin colt, has been named Alice Bingen. This ia one of the most promising juveniles in work at headouarters—a natural trotter. Lady Lonsdale ha? changed hands, and ia now in Mr. Atkin's care. The mare has settled down picely. Wonderland; gava a nice exhibition on Wednesday of pacing with the 2traps en. Blackthorn put up a nice showing yesterday morning. After leaving his feet once ho Vottpd kindly over two and a-hajf miles, showing p}6nty of dash. Geo.. Paul arrived from Te Awnmutu with his team. Oruarangi, Strategy, Pointer, and Hova. Tho quartette look well in condition. Prince Poole is now trained and ridden by J. Nicholson. The geldihtr showed pace over a ba!f-niile spin yesterday mornins. Mr. McFarquhar arrived at the beginning of the week from Gisbome with Wild Boy, Ena Bell (Great Northern Handicap trotting candidate), and Peter Scott.
