CANTON AGAINST PEKING. THE BREACH WIDENING. , A. and *N.Z. NEW YORK, Dec. 21. The Shanghai correspondent of the Chicago Tribune states that despite the recent unification mandate issued by the President of China, the Northern and Southern factions seem to be drifting farther apart. Dr. Sun Yat Sen, who re- . cently assumed control of the Canton Government, telegraphed to Peking demanding that all military men be dis- ' missed, the unification mandate be with- ' drawn, and that the Peking Government refrain from further foreign loans. The Peking Government declared the demands impossible, and has notified Japan that neither the Chinese people nor the Northern Government can be, responsible for Japanese loans made to Southern China
