Harding, the President-elect, has been consulting leaders of political thought on the subject of the future foreign policy of the United States. Since his return from Panama, he has conferred with Mr. H. C. Hoover, Mr. C. E. Hughes, Mr. W. J. Brvan, Mr. J. A. Reed, Mr. J. K. Shields, and Mr. G. M. | Hitchcock, Democratic members of the Senate, and other greater and lesser political lights. Mr. Harding obtained their opinions on the League of Nations. Each, following the conferences, reiterated his already known views on American foreign affairs. The Presidentelect, however, did not state what conclusions he had reached at these conferences. Political writers have ventured a I variety of guesses, and the best opinion is that he favours an association of | nations, the exact character of which has not yet been determined.
