PROFITS FOR WORKERS.
SUBSTSTUTE FOR WAGES. AN AMERICAN EXPERIMENT.' A. and X.Z. NEW YORK. Dec. 21. At Newbern, North Carolina, a meeting between workers and owners of a large iron miil to discuss a 20 per cent, reduction in wages resulted in an agreement whereby all profits beyond the operation expenses will be distributed among the workers in lieu of wages. At Philadelphia, Mr. Kelly, secretary of the Amalgamated Workers of America, announced that the organisation will demand that the owners of plants now idle should turn them over to the workers.
