BANKING AMALGAMATION.
PROPOSAL IN INDIA. R«uter. DELHI. Dec. 9. A banking amalgamation is foreshadowed by the offer of the Peninsular and Oriental Banking Corporation to purchase ordinary shares of the Allahabad Bank, conditionally upon acceptance of the offer by the holders of no less than 75 per cent, of the shares. The holders ru-e also given the option of receiving shares in the Peninsular and Oriental Banking Corporation.
