FREEZING INDUSTRY.
SHEDS REMAIN IDLE. ANOTHER REPLY TO WORKERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. -yOVW corbespontjext.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. The sheds are idle at present, but the delay in killing and freezing is less grave than it would have been in some other years. The space available for " free" meat is small, most of the ships being engaged still in lifting the Imperial meat. Moreover, the holidays are close at hand. The amount of killing done before Christmas would therefore, not be very great. If the companies and the freezing workers do not come to terms before the early part of January, a very difficult situation will -arise. In answer to the statement made by Mr. Niall, secretary of Freezing Workers' Federation, it is pointed out by the owners that one conference with the employees' representatives was held in October, and at a later conference of freezing companies a committee was set up to meet the federation representatives. Mr. Niall, on behalf of the federation, declined this conference. In his statement Mr. Niall ignores the fact that the companies to submit the dispute to the Arbitration Court.
