FIRE BLIGHT DISEASE.
MEASURES FOR ERADICATION.
The executive of, the Auckland Provincial Centra! Fire Blight Committee, at its last meeting, appointed Messrs. G. A Green, W. J. Collard, and H. S. Izard a committee to conduct a publicity campaign. The horticulture division of the Department of Agriculture agreed to exhibit m suitable places in Queen Street speciments of tree attacked by fire blinht m order that the public may become acquainted with its appearance. Reports received from most of the fruitgrowing areas ,in -, the Auckland district showed that while the disease is rather severe m the Tauranga and Paeroa districts, it is being kept well in check in and around the city. The statement that the disease was spreading rapidly in Henderson commercial orchards generally was stated to be incorrect, as it has appeared district? southern outskirts of that The executive and the officers of the Department of Agriculture inspected several groups of fruit trees.
