AMERICAN LABOUR.
FORMULATING A PROGRAMME. HARMONY IN INDUSTRY. . A. and N.Z. WASHINGTON, Nov. 17. The executive council of the American Federation of Labour „ held a conference with Mr. H. C. Hoover and a group of industrial engineers concerning economic and industrial conditions in the United States, presumably for the purpose of framing a legislative programme which Congress will be urged to adopt. It is understood that the Federation will seek to harmonise industry, to establish co-operative shop management, and to repeal existing laws regarding compulsory arbitration.
