THEFT OF LADY'S OVERCOAT. YOUNG GIRL ADMITS OFFENCE. theft of a lady's overcoat, valued at £3 15s, was admitted by a girl, aged 16, who appeared before Mr. W. R. Mc- • Kean, S.M., in the Police Court yeft-er-day. Detective Lambert stated that when he ; arrested accused she admitted having taken the coat from a house in Parnell ■where she had been lodging. She was wearing the coat at the time. ChiefDetective MeMahon said the girl needed to be kept under control, but she had never previously been before the Court. He suggested a long period of probation. The magistrate adjourned the case for six months, and ordered the girl to report to Adjutant Gordon, of the Salvation Army, once a week during that period.
