Monday An offer was recently made by the Building Trades Federation guaranteeing labour for the Government's housing 1 scheme. The Hon. W. H. Hemes ha? replied that 600 dwellings are to be erected besides those now under construction. Th« co-operation of the Building Trades Fed eration is desirable, ..and the. department 1 will be pleased to have its p.:-...:■-;.: ncr, either by the employment of workers on 1 wages or by contract, the latter method 1 being considered more satisfactory. The ' Minister hopes the federation's offer will facilitate the erection of a large number ■ of houses.
