LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS.

COUNTY POLLING TO-MORROW INTERESTING CONTESTS. The triennial election of county councils throughout the Dominion will take place to-morrow. Special interest attaches to the Waitemata County elections in view of the fact that the Wainui, Takapuna, Birkenhead, j Kaukapakapa and Pukeatua ridings are proposed by the Akarana League to be i included in the new county advocated by that body. In the Wainui riding Mr. T. M. Burns, a member of the league, is contesting the seat with the sitting member, Mr. A. J. Hatfield, and in the Takapuna riding Mr. E. In the Mairetahi riding the present ! chairman, Mr. H. Aitkenhead is opposed by a former member, Mr. J. McLeod, : while the sitting member in the Waita- j kere riding is defending the seat against I Mr. A. R. Sinton, and Mr. W. Oliphant, I sitting member for the Waipareira riding! has as opponent a former member, Mr. I J. Greenwood. Mr. P. Theet was returned , unopposed for the Waikumete riding. !
