EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN.
TEACHERS' DEMONSTRATION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 6. Thousands of women teachers from London and provincial schools demonstrated in Trafalgar Square to-day. during a dense fog. They demanded equal pay for equal work, and protested against the scale of salaries recommended by a Committee of Investigation, on which Lord Burnham presided, fixing women's salaries for the various teaching grades at fourfifths of the salaries paid in correspondins grades to men. Despite the demonstration the conference of the National Union of Teachers by 64.982 to 37,547 votes, adopted Lord Burnham's report.
