HINDUS AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

VIEWS OF DEPARTMENT. >. Another aspect of-the Hindu immigration question is discussed in the current issue of the official Journal of Health. It has been reported to the Health Department that many Hindu immigrants report shortly after admission to New Zealand for treatment for tuberculosis, and some pressure is being brought to bear upon the Department with a view to endeavour-ing-to some extent to prohibit the landing of these immigrants. The Department, however, is only concerned with the matter of whether the health of a person arriving in New Zealand is such that will not place him within the scope of the Immigration Restriction Act, and it is actuated by no other policy than this in any of its actions. The port health officers are instructed to examine stringently every Hindu immigrant landing in the Dominion, and to report to the Customs Department any such person whose physical condition leads them to believe he is infirm and in the New Zealand climate may become a charge on the public or any charitable institution. Hindus come from a hot climate, and are naturally not so immune to the rigours of our temperate climate, and the Department has evidence already that such persons do become a charge.

COCOA—BOTH FOOD AND DRINK.

Cocoa is not merely a delicious beverage —it's a food.

Nature combines in cocoa most of the food elements your body needs. Some produce bone and muscle; some- create energy; some rebuild worn-Gut tissues. They are carefully balanced in cocoa, so that you get the right proportions. Amongst cocoas 4 none can compare with' delicious, stimulating Van ten's. It is prepared from the choicest cocoa beans grown in the British Empire; and the rare and delicato flavour which nature puts into these beans is preserved in Van Houtcn's Cocoa, by reason of an improved method of transportation and manufacture. Always fresh, pure and healthful. Van Houten's Cocoa is ideal for breakfast and supper. Obtainable at all grocers and stores.
