FOOTBALL.

UNDER LEAGUE RULES.

ENGLAND V. NEW ZEALAND.

FIRST TEST MATCH TO-DAY.

I The first test match between the English ■ L:\aguc touring team and the New Zealand , League representatives at the Domain today promises to be a stirring struggle. Both j teams have been training assiduously, and I the players will take the field in first-class I condition. New Zealand' has not yet won ' a test match in the Dominion against the . English League representatives, though . the • test played in Auckland in 1914 resulted in a very narrow victory for the visitors, the I scores being 16 points to 13. Opinions are fairly evenly divided as to lie probable result of to-day's game. There is a widespread opinion that the visitors are capable of a better performane than they displayed against Auckland on Saturday last, and the fact that they played a man short for prac- ; tically the whole' game lends weight to Una i contention. On the other hand the display i of the Auckland forwards was highly impresI sive. The same vanguard that represented I Auckland will play for New Zealand to-day, I and if they repeat last' Saturday's form they | should play havoc with the combination of [ the visiting backs. There is every indication ! that the weather will bo' fine, and with a dry ball and firm turf the teams should give a great exhibition of high-class League football. Two junior games will be played is preliminaries to the main event. The first will commence at 12.45 p-m, and the second at 1.45 p.m. The teams for the test match are: — NEW ZEALAND. Fullback: Davidson. Threequarters: Ifwerson, "Woolley. Grey, Sanders. Five-eighth: McClymont. Halfback: Pollock. Forwards: Walters, Sinters. Stormont.. Scott, Bass, Avery. Emergencies: Backs. Poison. Cloke, Loveridge; forwards. Herring, Bennett. ENGLAND. Fullback: G. Thomas. Threequartors: W. Stone. E. Davies, D. Hureomoe, J. Bacon. s Halfbacks: J. Parkin, E. W. Jones. Forwards: J. Cartwright, W. Cunliffe, G. A. Skelhorne, B. Gronow, H. Hilton. D. Clark. CITY ROVERS CLUB. The eleventh annual meeting of the City Rovers Football Ciub will bo held at the League rooms, Swanson Street, at 10.30 a.m. to-morrow. THE RUGBY GAME. MATCHES FOR TO-DAY. After a lapse of five weeks, owing to representative fixtures having to be played, the Auckland Rugby Union's senior championship will be resumed at Eden Park this afternoon. The standard of club football in Auckland this season' has been particularly good, and some most interesting contests have resulted. The games promised for this afternoon should prove no exception to the rule, and patrons should be provided with plenty of entertainment. Ponsonby will play College Rifles on No. 1 ground. University will meet Grafton on No. 2 ground, and Marist Brothers will play Newton on No. 3 ground. THE ASSOCIATION" GAME. TEAMS FOR TO-DAY. Ponsonby Seniors v. Huntry.—Crawford. Inness.
