HAMILTON ORPHANS' CLUB.

[BT TELEGRAPH—OWN CO3EESFOSTJENT.] 'HAMILTON, Monday. The newly-formed Hamilton Orphans' Club hold its opening meeting on Saturday ovening. The president, Mr. H. J. Ferguson, presided, and there was an attendance of about three hundred. The visitors included Messrs. J. A. Young, M.P., R. F. Bollard, M.P., the Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, Mr. W. A. Beddce, president of the Auckland Orphans' Club, Mr. E.' Bray, president of the De\onport Orphans' Club, Archdeacon Cowie, Air. W. Ooodfcllow, over 50 members of the Auckland Orphans' Club, including the orchestra, and representatives of the Devonport and Cambridge Orphans' Clubs an d the Hamilton and Waikato Clubs. In welcoming the visitors the chairman' read a, telegram from the Cambridge Orphans' Club wishing the new club every success, He stated that as the Governor-General would bo attending the Wellington Orphans' Club that night on behalf of the club he had sent'his greetings. He mentioned that the new club already had over 100 members and the nucleus of an orchestra of fifteen.

The Mayor said that such a club should do much to assist in building up the social side of the town, and he thanked the visitors for giving the club such a good start by providing the opening programme. Messrs. Beddoc, Young, Bollard, and Bray also wished the club every success. An excellent musical programme was provided by the Auckland Orphans' Club orchestra and others.
