FOOTBALL. t THE RUGBY GAME. i THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. £ The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union met last evening. Mr. X. i II Jones presiding. A request from the Maniopoto Union lor a representative match on June 5 was rofused. The New Zealand 1 Rugby Referees' Association wrote for r financial support in sending Mr. A. Wetherilt i as its delegate to toe annual conference at { Wellington, on May 27. The request was , granted. A letter was received notuying the re-tormatiou of a .south Auckland Rugby Union, comprising the following sununions:Paeroa. I'iako, Morrinsvule. Matamata, JSUmiton, Cambridge, \\aipa, >vaiR»i6 Mftaiopoto, and Kagian, the majority of which sent delegates to the annual meeting. It was decided to give this union every assistance. The Grammar School Old Boys V notified that Mr- A. 8. The question of granting ground passes to players was again discussed, -t was agreed that the draw and grounds be decided a week ahead in regird to grounds whero admission is charged, that passes be issued to the secretary of each club on the Monday prior to the match, that no player be admitted without a, pass to a ground to which admission is charged, and that playors of senior teams with a. bye be provided with one ticket for the ground and one for the stand. It was decided to ask |Mr W. Cunningham to act as coach to the Auckland representative teams. Mr. F. Allen was appointed assistant-treasurer. Lee will accompany the team as managers. In a match playod against Technical School yesterday, Y.M.C.A. won by 40 points to 0. It was reported recently that the Sydney University had transferred its allegiance to the League game, but a' letter has been received from the New South Wales Rugby Union, stating that at the annual meeting of the University Football Club it vfas decided by an overwhelming majority to adhere to the Rugby Union. • This decision wag arrived at despite an organised attempt on the part of a section of the students, mainly non-players, to bring about a change. UNDER LEAGUE RULES. THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League met last evening, Mr. J. Carlaw presiding. N. Veart, of the Maritime, was tiansfemd to Marist Brothers Old Boys. The transfer of H. Neal, of Maritime, to Grafton, was approved. A Marist Brothers' player who was ordered oft the field for a breach of the rules in the match against Maritime last Saturday, received c warning to be more observant of the rules. An application from W. Condon, of Newton, to be regraded from senior to first junior, was granted. Morton, of Marist Brothers , was regraded from senior to first junior. H. Thompson, who played Rugby last season, was reinstated. Mr. R. Benson, who had visited the Lower Waikato, reported the game to be in a flourishing condition there. Six teams were meeting in the competitions, end others were being formed. The principal match there on Saturday will be Huntly/v. Tiupiri, to bo played at Taupiri. The King Country League reported good progiess. If, , was decided to forward to the New Zealand League the nominations of Mr. Stsi lworthv as team manager and Mr. T.
