SCHOOL WANTED AT WIRI.
DEPUTATION TO THE BOARD.
A request for the establishment of a school at Wirf was made by a deputation of residents of the district, which waited on the Education Board yesterday.
Mr. A. Rogers, who acted as spokesman for the deputation, said there was urgent need for a school in the district. The children had to walk a distance of some two miles to either I'apatdotoe or Manurewa, along a highroad, rendered dangerous to children by reason of motor traffic and cattle driving. There were 25 children from Wiri now attending these two schools, and others were attending the Flat Hush school. There were also some half-dozen children, ( .bout five vears old, whose parents would not permit them to run the risk of travel by road or rail. The board decided to ask for detailed information, and to refer the matter to the chief inspector.
