City worked the ball to the Newton line, but Bass broke away and took the leather to midfield, where City were penalised, but Baas' attempt at goal failed. A good dash' by. The City forwards broke away with a rush to half-way, where Newton were awarded a penalty, but Davidson returned well. A City ruth ended in Clark cutting in well and scoring between the posts. From the ensuing scrum Newton were awarded a free kick, but Dufty failed to score. There was not • a ; great deall of fast, open play, but the team work of Maritime was excellent at times, particularly during the second spell. Good forward play by Marist removed the danger and play hung m midfield for the remainder of tho spell, which ended with the scores: Maritime 7. Marist 3. Upon resuming, Maritime set up a strong attack which eventually resulted in Sutton beating the opposition and scoring. The try waa not converted. With tho score* standing Maritime 16, Marists 6, the latter did not appear to have much chanc* of equal- > ising the points, but toward the end of the tame McNamara scored, as the result of a good passing run by the backs. Stornont placed a good goal, making the scores- Maritime, 16: Marist, 11. Tho game finished shortly afterwards, with the scores unchanged. PONSONBY V. DEVONPORT. Fast open play characterised the game between Pom nby and J>evonport. During the first spell the former scored three tries, none of which was converted, Devonport snored a try. from which * goal was kicked,-ana the scores at the interval were: Ponsonby, 8: jUovonport, 3. Early in the second half Devonport scored a try, which was converted, placing them a point ahead of their opponents. Ponsonby, attacking strongly, again crossed the Devonport line, Delgrosso scoring near the corner. The shot at goal fell short. Bhortly afterwards Cadman again scored for Ponsonby, and .Cross converted. With & seven points deficit Devonport struggled hard to score, and Matthews kicked a nice goal from a penalty. Shortly before the bell rang Nicholson succeeded in crossing the Ponsonby' line, and Matthews added the goal points, making the scores: Ponsonby, 17; Devonport, 37 Tho game ended without further addition to the scores. THE ASSOCIATION" GAME. THE SENIOR COMPETITION. ' The Auckland Football Association's senior competition was continued on Saturday afternoon. Brotherhood defeated Devonport Presbyterian, at Devonport, by 4 goals to 1. Northcote played Huntly at the Domain and won by 6 goal* to 2. Y.M.C.A. and Ponsonby plated a drawn gamo at Victoria Park, neither aide scoring.

BROTHERHOOD V. DEVONPORT. I , Shortly after the commencement L. Williams obtained possession near the touchlino and scored for Brotherhood with an excellent shot. Firth scored the second i goal, and just on half-time Eckman added the third goal. On resuming, play was of an oven nature until the Presbyterians forced a corner. 1* Grice took the kick and .placed the ,ball well itt. the wind carrying it into the net.
