Goodfellow waa present, and explained that owing to difficulty in getting satisfactory tenders and the high cost of building the work had been delayed. ; ! The new proposal was" to build a/' two-unit factory at Morrlnsville at' a cost of : £40,000. ; This 'obit would comprise I £15,000 for buildings and £23,000 for plant and the price of the land. The plant would - deal with milk from 3000 to 3500 cows, and if a concentrator were added, with milk from 4000 cows, The factory would be of three storeys, and would be erected, by day labour. It would probably be completed next autumn. Mr. Goodfellow said that at a conservative estimate the nett return to suppliers -would be 2a 6d per lb of butterfaU The gross return would bo 3a, but 6d would bo deducted to cover the cost of the factory, which would be paid for in two and a-half years. Mr. Goodfellow said he had no hesitation in recommending dairy farmers to support the proposal. There was an assured demand for dried milk, while butter would increase in price. The original guarantors were invited to vote as to whether the project should be proceeded with, and favoured the proposal by 35 votes to 10, or by 1389 cows to 280. The number of cows guaranteed to date is 3358.
