CHURCH AND IMMIGRATION. MOVE BY METHODIST BODY. Australian and N.Z. Cable Associativa. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, Mty 14. The Methodist General Conference decided to-day to establish a Methodist immigration bureau, in London, to promote and assist Methodist immigration to Australia. STRIKE INVESTIGATION. SYDNEY. May 14. General Sir John Monash has been appointed president of a tribunal to determine certain matters arising out of the recent strike of marine engineers. SALARIES IN FEDERAL HOUSE. MELBOURNE. May 14. The Federal House of Representatives, by 42 votes to 16, voted " That the Government be requested to increase the salaries of members to £1000 annually." Mr. W. M. Hughes supported the motion, stating that if employed outside Parliament members could earn threo times their present salaries.
