■■ • - ALLAN WILKIE SEASON. The final performance of H. P. Maltby's clover comedy, " Tho Rotters." wil] be given at His Majesty's Theatre this evening by the Allan Wilkio Company. The play attracted a large and appreciative audience last evening and, judging by tho booking, another good attendance is assured this evening. Tho company will stage H. F. Maltby'a demobilisation drama, " A Temporary Gentleman," on Monday evening. This play oxporionccd great popularity during lengthy runs at the Oxford and Kmgeway Theatres, London. The problem of the demobilised officer seeking employment is skilfully handled by the author. Mr. Allan Wilkiewill play the part of the central figure, Lieutenant Walter Hope, and Miss Frediswydo Hunter will appear as his sister. OPERA HOUSE. The, programme it the Opera House this week is much to the liking of vaudeville patrons and the new artists havo becomo firm favourites. MUNICIPAL ORGAN RECITAL. The city organist has arranged a varied programme for tho organ recital in the Town hall this evening. He will play the Andante with variations from Beethoven's celebrated septett and Guilmant's fine Symphony in D minor. Mr. D. V. L'llicrap will be the vocalist. ENGLISH PIERROTS. The English Pierrots, a company of sixteen versatile entertainers, will commence their brief season at tho Town Hall this evening. The ladies' orchestra is one of the | new features-one which has claimed considerable attention during the company's ] recent seasons in Perth and Melbourne. The programme which will lie presented this evening is entirely now. The box plan will be at Wildman and Arey's dll noon, after which it will be st the Town Hall, where scats may bo reserved. TOWSEYMITCHELL CONCERT. A varied and attractive programme of vocal and instrumental items which should appeal to music lovers has been arranged for the Towsey-Mitchell concert in tho Town Hall next Thursday evening. 'IV artists include Miss Winifred Mitchell. Miss Laura Stone, Mrs. Cyril Towsey, Messrs. Edgar Randal, Edwin Dennis, Hubert Carter. Tom Harris and Fred Bourke, and pupils of Miss Daphne Knight. The New Zealand Vocal Quartette will sing "The Dear Little Shamrock" and "Love's Old Sweet Song.' Other vocal items will be "Phyllis Has Such Charming Graces," "The Glory of the Sea." •'My Ships. Tin Only a Step to Killarney." "Nirvana,' - "Spring's a Loveable Lady. "The Irish Emigrant," "She j Is Far From the Land." "Hume." ana "Ave Maria." The organ solos will be "Concert Overture" and "Revo Angelina," and tho violin solos "Air on G String' and "Moment. Musicale." The accompanists will be Mr. Cyril Towsey and Mrs. Tawsou. GRAFTON LIBRARY COURSE. The Grafton Library winter course will oo opened on Tuesday with a concert, arranged by Mr. Maughan Barnett. city organist. Vocal selections will be rendered by Miu Braithwaite, Mr. Sydney Butler, and tne New Zealand Quartetts (Messrs L_ Fesg. B. C. Nixon. A. Asbury, and R. Bellow). Other items include pianoforte duets by Miss Hilda Rarnett and Mr. Maughan Barnett, and elocutionary recitals by Miss Belle Mynott. The accompanist will be Mr. Leo Whittaker. EPSOM LIBRARY CONCERT. A varied programme has been arranged for the winter course of lectures and entertain ments at the Epsom Library. The course opens on Tuosday. May 25. with a concert arranged by Mr', and Mrs. Cyril Towsey. Another concert has been arranged by • Mis* Mcllhone, and a dramatic entertainment, by Madame Mabel St. Jam's. Lectures will bo delivered by Mr. H. E. Yailc. Professor J . I . Johnson, the Rev. J. W. Shaw, and Frofeasor H. S. Dettmann. LYRIC THEATRE. A bright comedy-drama, " Brass Buttons." featuring several wc:i-known film favourite*, will bo screened at tho Lyric Theatre this afternoon. As the result of borrowing and wearing a policeman's uniform. William Ru.s sell, in the title role, experiences some eicit ing adventures. His intention in focurinf? the uniform was to make the, aconain lance of a charming girl, Berenice Cleveland, whoso part is admirably taken by Eileen Percy. The plai is staged in Anions, and is * bright story of love and adventure. The final chapter of the dramatic aerial film, A Man of Might." will also bo shown. Th.supporting programme includes a number or interesting pictures. Music will be provided by tho orchestra. STRAND THEATRE. A delightful Select comedy. "The Veiled Adventure," with Constance lilmadge in the .leading role, heads the programme at the Strand Theatre to-day. An attractive double programme will be screened at the Tivoli Theatre this afternoon. The first picture is entitled "The Career of Kathcrine Bush." a fine version of the well-known book. Charming Cathenno Calvert appears in the leading role. The second picture is an intensely] amusing comedy, "Speed." PRINCESS THEATRE. "Tho Firing Line," an adaptation of Robert W. Chambers' stirring novel of the same name, will bo screened at the Princess Theatre to-day. Tho well-'kriown American dancer, Irene Castle, who is said to be the best dressed woman in the world, appears in the leading role, as She la Cardoss, a charming young girl, who falls in love with a landscape architect, though she is secretly married to another man. Her lover becomes dangerously ill when her marriage is made public and only her presence saves his life Later Sheila's husband commits suicide. "Under Suspicion," a stirring drama based on the famous play of the same name, by Horace Hunt, will be the chief item at the Queen's Theatre to-day. Horace Hunter and Hilda Bayley take the leading roles. The picture is claimed to be one of the finest seen in Auckland for some time.
