BUILDING TRADES HOLIDAY. NO WORK ON SATURDAY. Australian and N.Z Cable Association. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 2. The building trades in both Sydney and Melbourne were practically ai a standstill yesterday owing to the workers' decision against Saturday work. On a few jobs me.i continued at work without interference, the decision of the Building Trades' Vigilance Committee to picket jobs not being ir force during the week-end. I.AND VALUES STILL RISING. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 2. Land sales during recent months have shown, despite the almost prohibitive cost of building, that there is an increasingly strong demand for suburban land at high prices, which apparently have not reached the limit. FOOTBALL SEASON OPENED. (R«cd. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, May 2. The football season in all grades opened on Saturday. -Both as regards the number and strength of teams and the public attendance, there are indications of a full resumption of the pre-war popularity of tho winter game. NEWSPAPER PRICES ADVANCED. (Reed. 9.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 2. The Sydney Morning Herald and Sydney Daily Telegraph are increasing their i price to two pence from May 10.
