SURRENDER OF MAUBEUGE.
GENERAL PAU'S DISCLOSURES SUPPORT FOR COMMANDER. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 8.30 p.m.) PARIS. April 30. Sensational, evidence was given at. the trial of General Fournier and subordinate officers, who wore charged with surrendering Maubeuge to the Germans in September, 1914. General Pau stated Unit the Minister for War, in August, was indignant on account of Genenl Founder's insistent demands for assistance. Ho ordered General Pau to take command ant shoot General Fournier. General Pan inspected the fortress, and agreed with General Fournicr respecting the defective defences of the fortress, which could not stand a Riego of tan davs. General Pau, instead of shooting General Fournier, recommended his immediate promotion.
