EXCESS PROFITS TAX.
REJECTION DEFEATED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 12.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 29. In the debate ou the Budget, Mr. G. Terrell, Coalition Unionist, moved the rejection of the excess, profits duty. Mr. Austen Chamberlain expressed his willingness to consider an alternative, but he stressed the' necessity of reducing the vast dobt and establishing the credit of the country. The motion was negatived by 286 votes to 75. The corporation tax was adonted. Mr. Austen Chamberlain intimating that co-oporf.tive dividends would be exempted from the tax,
