BOXING. i EXHIBITION CONTESTS. 1 The boxing tournament arranged by the j Northern Boxing Association between meml bers of the association and men from the ! Renown attracted a large attendance at Shed j 15. Queen's Wharf, last evening. The success of the exhibition was due in a large measure to Lieutenant Leek and Chief Petty Officer Bacon, of the Renown, who gave j valuable assistance. Many interesting bouts j were witnessed. A special prize for the best i display in the evening was won by A. Fran- ; cis. who defeated Able Seaman Flowers. This was undoubtedly the best bout of the evening Results were as follows: — Able Seaman Dark and Leading Seaman Turner drew after a good contest. Loading Seaman Mann met G. Brown, who | Wis disqualified in the sixth round for uni intentionally hitting, low. This was really ' a wod bout. I Gunner Spence knocked out CJorporal I Laughton in the first round. Able Seaman Flowers was defeated by A. Francis after a very clover contest. Able Seaman Hawes and Harry Holmes (Australia) commenced an exhibition bout of four two-minute rounds, but Hawes was accidentally knocked out in the second round. Gunner Chase and. B. GOLF. TH K AUCKLAND CLUB. Owing to the railway strike the Hart memorial bogey handicap competition, which was to havf- been played to-morrow by members of the Auckland Golf Club, has been. postponed. AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB. The second round of the Hope Lewis Cowl competition, which was to have been played to-day, and the monthly medal, which was to have been decided on Tuesday, by members of the Auckland Ladies' Golf Club, have been postponed owing to the railway .■strike.
