A battalion of French Infantry and a squadron of Cavalry occupied Vrfa. the last Syrian pest between the Tigris am the Euphrates. They were si'rr anded by troops of Mustapha Ketnal. the .urki.-h insurgent leader. The French were compelled to leave the town after an armistice. Subsequently they were attacked by superior numbers of the rebels .4<-rordirie to the Turks, a portion of the French force succeeded in returning to the town The remainder probably will reach the railway to the south.
