TAMPERING WITH TRAIN.
THE VICEREGAL ENGINE.
INCIDENT AT AUCKLAND. TbT TELEGRAPH.—SPECIAL REPOBT.R.J BOTORTJA. Tuesday. A sensational incident in connection with the running of the special trains from Auckland this morning has transpired. It appears that the firebox on the engine of the GovernorGeneral's train had been tampered with. As soon as the engine attempted to start the whole firebox collapsed. The engine from that train had to be detached and its place taken by the locomotive of the pilot train. The latter in turn had to be supplied with a further engine but a little delay was the only result. Iu the end no real damage was done to ths engine which, had been tampered with.
