CARRIAGE OF MAILS.
LIMITED MOTOR SERVICE.
ONLY LETTERS TO BE TAKEN
The Postal Department is making ar rangements for a restricted motor service for the carriage of letters in the event of the trains ceasing to run. Information was received by the acting-chief postmaster at Auckland. Mr. P. G. Harwood, lust evening that no newspapers, packets, or other large mail matter will bo accepted for carriage by this emergency service and that the post,rig apertures foi this class of matter will be closed. It is possible that arrangements will be made for the steamer Rarawa to malte three weekly trips between Onehunga and New Plymouth instead of two, as at present.
